FWBO Discussion

Welcome

The Friends of the Western Buddhist Order is a diverse and thoughtful community, whose members frequently debate matters of teaching and issues affecting the FWBO, its history and its future. This debate has often been invisible to non-members, and this site aims to open that debate and reflection to a wider audience. This site links to articles that are already online, written by members of the Western Buddhist Order and others.

Initially at least, the focus is - perhaps inevitably - on topics that have caused controversy. Over time it will broaden to include perspectives on the FWBO’s approach to practicing the Dharma in the modern Westernised world-including some appraisals of its successes and failures.

This site is run by the FWBO Development Team and contains their selection of material. If you would like to submit or suggest an article, please contact us on lokabandhu [at] fwbo.org. We are looking for well-written, considered pieces, which may well already have appeared in Shabda (the WBO’s monthly journal) or other more public forums.
